Description:

The Historical Archive possessions may be considered among the most important in Italy. It is divided into sections, according to the historical periods: Farnese era, first Bourbon rule, French and Taro departement period, the rule of Marie Louise of Austria and of the second Bourbons, as well as the historical archives of the city of Parma, with acts from 1099 to 1860 and the Municipal Historical Archives, with documents from 1860 onward and the section relating to the Regio Theatre.
It is also divided into various collections, such as maps and plans, aristocratic archives, ancient manuscripts.
The archive is hosted in a large interior transept which used to be a hospital. In the same building can be also found two important libraries, Biblioteca Civica and Biblioteca Bizzozzero, the latter specialized in agricultural texts.
