Varano de' Melegari is an ancient village in the valley of river Ceno, with a beautiful castle that once belonged to the Pallavicino family and was destroyed by their Ghibelline enemies. The castle owes its present features to works carried out in 15th century: three of the four towers are allingned on the side facing the Ceno river.

The octagonal Baptistery of Serravalle, dating back to 9th century, is one of the most ancient Romanesque monuments of the province.
Noteworthy monuments: Castle; Church of St. Martino; Castle of Rocca Lanzona; Borgo of Viazzano; Motor racing circuit Riccardo Paletti.
