The 1 January 2014 the Municipalities of Sissa and Trecasali merged into one called Municipality of Sissa Trecasali, estabilished by the Regional law n° 20 of 2013 according to the results of the consultative referendum through which the majority of residents decided to unify the two Municipalities of Sissa and Trecasali.

Sissa was founded in the 10th century, Sissa has developed around the Rocca, now seat of the Town hall.
Belonging to the land estate of the Cathedral of Parma since 1084, then left to Barbarossa's son Henry VI, the village was later ruled until the early Renaissance by the Terzi family. They were replaced at the end of the 13th century by the Rangonis and then by the Ramondis in 1890, who finally sold the Rocca to the Municipality of Sissa.
Weekly market: on Monday.

Trecasali is a small rural village founded in the 9th century, located in the plain land called Bassa Parmense, Trecasali is famous for the production of mouthwatering delicacies such as the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, ham, culatello and salame, celebrated every year by the gastronomic event The bridge of taste.
