An ancient village with a thermal spa renovated by Pier Maria Rossi in 1474, Lesignano is located on the hills south of Parma.
It was Pier Maria Rossi who, after having built the Torrechiara castle in 1460, wanted to improve the thermal waters present in the territory by cleaning the wells and restoring the sanatorium. He is also credited with the construction of the Oratory of San Fermo. Nowadays in Rivalta, a site just a few kilometres from the centre, one can still see the Barboj, small craters that emit a muddy mixture from the subsurface.

In the capital of the municipality one finds the Parish of Saint Michael that still preserves some remaining fragments from the Roman Era (10th-11th centuries). Inside the church is a gothic chapel from 1363 and a fresco depicting Saint Christopher from 1300.About 4km from Lesignano one can visit the Cavana Abbey, a small church built in the Romanesque style.

Weekly market: Wednesday morning.
