Situated at the confluence of rivers Ceno, Sporzana and Taro, Fornovo was in the Middle Ages an important resting stop on the road to Mount Bardone.  
It is here that on 5 July 1495 took place the battle between the Italian League army commanded by Francesco Gonzaga and that of Charles VIII of France.
Noteworthy is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, rebuilt in the 11th century, one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in the area, Villa Carona of the 17th century and the petrol mine of Vallezza.
A few cholometers from Fornovo there is the Natural reserve Monte Prinzera with its beautiful examples of animals and rare flowers.

How to get there:

25 Km from Parma. By car motorway A15 Parma-La Spezia exit Fornovo or South ring road exit 12 Via La Spezia on the SS 62; by train railway line Parma-La Spezia, get off in Fornovo; by bus Tep line Parma-Fornovo Taro.
