Description:

this austere, arcaded building rises on the south side of Piazza Garibaldi, the main square in the small town of Fidenza. Although it already existed in 1191, when it was first mentioned, the structure dates back to the 14th century, when the crenelated facade and the cusped arcades were built.

After being destroyed by the French and Spanish armies in the 16th century, it was rebuilt with the addition of the wings and the tower; the facade was redesigned in the later 19th century in imitation Lombard-Gothic style.
