Show or Hide answer Is it possible to visit the Ham factories?

The production area of the Parma Ham is located on the hills south of the city, from Sala Baganza (about 15 km away) to Langhirano.
The factories are usually open to visitors only during the Ham Festival, in September, but some are available on other times of the year, generally for groups and only on reservation.
In Langhirano there is also a Museum of Ham, that shows curious things, the history and richness of this exceptional product.
For further information contact the Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma or the producers directly that are on the list attached.
We always remember to call ahead and make a reservation!

The territory of the Province is covered with cheese factories and many of these are on the Streets of flavours itinerary.
It is usually possible to stop and purchese, directly at the factory, the famous cheese of our territory though it is a bit difficult to make a guided tour without a pre-booking, it is always up to the producers' availability. Please note that not many cheese producers speak a foreign language.
If you decide to make a tour in the countryside, possibly by car, and visit one of the many attractions in the province, you can stop along the street in one of the cheese fatories signed on the Streets of flavours itinerary or follow the directions spread along the way.

In Soragna, a village about 30 km west of Parma, where you can visit the Rocca Meli Lupi, there is a beautiful Museum of Parmigiano Reggiano.

Show or Hide answer In what shops they sell typical products of Parma?

The gastronomic typical products of our territory are on sale in every shop of cured meats and food in general, in and out of the historical center, as well as in the areas of production (for example the Parmigiano Reggiano can be found at the cheese factories).
Also supermarkets and markets sell very good products. Actually, our specialties can be found everywhere! Many shops have also a mail service to send the products abroad.
You can find the lists of the shops on the websites www.inparma.it or www.confesercenti.com
