Is it possible to visit the famous Charterhouse of Stendhal?

The Charterhouse depicted by Stendhal in his novel La Certosa di Parma, is actually made up, but tradition says the author seemed to take the inspiration from the one located in Paradigna or Valserena, a few chilometers north of Parma, on the way to Colorno.
This Charterhouse, that is really magnificent, has open last May with the treasures of the Csac Museum: on display temporary and permanent exhibitions of the Centre of studies and archive of communication of the University of Parma.
There is another Charterhouse in Parma, on the way to Mantova, right out of the city, which hosts a Penitentiary Police School.

Are there any bicycle tracks to reach the castles?

Parma has always paid attention to the environment and mobility issues, infact, in the last few years, many new bicycle tracks have been realised in town and in the province and many will be made in the future.

At the moment there are some itineraries, also touristic, in the Parma territory, but not real tracks connecting the city to the interesting places in the province.
We suggest to take the towards the castle you wish to visit on the tracks, if there are on that way, and along the streets but not the main ones for there is too traffic.
Among the tracks of the province you can find: by mountain bike around Bardi, from Parma to Torrechiara by bike, by bike from Parma to Colorno, through the castles of the Bassa parmense by bike.

Is it possible to make a tour of the Castles in the Province?

You can make a tour of the castles and visit the ones you wish by yourself, choosing among the ones of the flat land, of the hills or of the mountains. It is strongly suggested to use the car in order to visit at least two or three castles, or by public transport paying attention to the opening hours and buses timetables.
The majority of the castles is closed on Monday, especially during winter time.

Where can I park a tourist bus and where can I drop off and pick up passengers?

The tourist buses can reach the historical centre and stop temporarily on Viale Toschi, that is two minutes away from the museums, the Ducal Garden and 5 minutes from the Piazza Duomo.
Buses arriving from the motorway A1 have to follow the directions to the historical center then to the parking Toschi, that is an underground parking, therefore buses have to stop along the street, on the right side where there are buses signs. Passengers will find there a bar with public toilets, not open on festivities and a snack point.
Then buses have to park out of the city center and drivers can eventually get back by public transport.
The most convenient parking space is located on Via San Leonardo, north of the historical center, opposite to the commercial mall Centro Torri or directly at the exit of the motorway A1 at the "parcheggio scambiatore" exchanging park north.
The parking is free, as well as the city entrance that requires no payment.

In the historical center there are many places where it is possible to use the internet and the Informagiovani has four pcs available for free (35 years old).

I lost my wallet, what can I do to report it?

If you should lose your wallet or purse or any documents, first of all it's necessary to block the credit cards, atm cards etc., the Tourist office on Piazza Garibaldi, 1 is available to help you. In case of robbery, a situation that fortunately happens rarely, you need to report it to the Carabinieri or to the Police, both are located in the historical center and reachable by foot.

The historical center of Parma can be easily walked by foot for it is about 2 km large, but if you don't want to walk, you can do as parmesans do, use a bike!
Rent a normal or electric bike, a funny way to discover the city respecting the environment.
Bicycles can be rent in the historical center at Parma Punto Bici.

How can I get to the city center from the airport?

The airport is located about 5 km away from the city center and it is connected to the city by the bus line number 6 from 6.30am to 8.00pm with a bus every hour.
